Thomas Meirion Hughes was born in Caernarfon,
married a Brynrefail girl, Meiriona, and on the 1st September 2002 celebrated their
Golden Wedding Anniversary .
Since his retirement from Ferodo as a Works
Study Engineer in 1985, Meirion occupied himself by studying German up to and
including AS standard. He is also a keen researcher and spends many hours at the
Caernarfon Archives. He is a member of both the Caernarfon Historical Society
and the Gwynedd Family History Society and give talks to various organizations
on the history of Caernarfon and other subjects in both languages, Welsh and
English. He is also a member of the Gorsedd of Bards of the National Eisteddfod
and over the years he has won 8 chairs and a crown in local Eisteddfodau .
